History and goals of the society.
The Society was founded in 1970 by David Roskelly and Zur Brough, then owners of Orchids Bountiful, who had a large collection of orchid species. The society’s goals are to promote an appreciation of the beauty of this unique family of plants and to educate members as well as the public as to how to cultivate them in the home or in the greenhouse. We are also committed to the preservation of orchids in their natural habitats such that they will be available for future generations. Our society members range from specialists to new growers who might have just a few windowsill plants.
Membership
If you are having problems in growing orchids, stop on by and learn how to grow them from the experts. If you already grow orchids, come and share your knowledge and learn more from our members and speakers.
Membership dues are $25year for a single person and $35 for a couple or family. We invite the public to attend two meetings for free, after which we request joining the society to help pay for all of our programs and activities.
If you like orchids, come and join us! Direct membership enquiries to Walter Krampert (utahorchidsoc@comcast.net).
