Congratulations to Bob Andrus
for receiving a FCC/CCE for his Cattlya loddigesii
On March 8th at the monthly judging session for the Rocky Mountain AOS judging center
in Denver our own Bob Andrus received an FCC and a CCE (Certificate of Cultural
Excellence) on his huge plant of Cattlya loddigesii. Bob received the CCE of 94 points
out of 100 on his immaculate plant, which had 101 flowers and 2 buds on 37 inflorescences,
and all of this in a 10-inch clay pot. The FCC of 90 points was well deserved.
The flowers almost formed a 12 cm circle. Congratulations Bob!

At the spring show an HCC 78 was given to Clint for his wonderfully fragrant Bifrenaria harrisonianae named “Orchid Dynasty” and two HCC awards to Dennis from the same hybrid grex Debrija Gold. The clones awarded were “Peaches and Cream” and “Sunburst” which received HCC awards of 75 and 78. The best-grown plant was awarded to Bob Andrus for his magnificent white Cattleya hybrid and the best flower went to Clint for his Bifrenaria harrisoniae,

History and goals of the society.

The Society was founded in 1970 by David Roskelly and Zur Brough, then owners of Orchids Bountiful, who had a large collection of orchid species. The society’s goals are to promote an appreciation of the beauty of this unique family of plants and to educate members as well as the public as to how to cultivate them in the home or in the greenhouse. We are also committed to the preservation of orchids in their natural habitats such that they will be available for future generations. Our society members range from specialists to new growers who might have just a few windowsill plants.
